"Louis XV Period Crossbow Chest Of Drawers With Added Consoles In Blackened Wood. "
Beautiful regional furniture with this Louis XV period chest of drawers in blackened elm. Curved in plan on the front with a crossbow cutout, the front uprights rounded, decorated with openwork applied consoles called "added consoles", this decoration brings a lot to the aesthetics of the piece of furniture while reminding us of the model of "mazarine chest of drawers" found at the beginning of the 18th century. Opening with 4 drawers on 3 rows, each drawer front is worked with elongated reserves with scrolls and shapes inspired by the quatrefoils in the middle, drawn by "C" shapes. The bottom crosspiece is scalloped and molded, the front feet are drawn by small curves, the sides of the chest of drawers are straight and paneled with a flat band. The top of the chest of drawers is made of wood, it perfectly follows the pretty cut of the piece of furniture and is finely molded with a corbin beak on the periphery. The Louis XV handles and entrances are in gilded bronze with rocaille ornamentation, the gilding warms and brightens the piece of furniture. The frame of the chest of drawers is in elm, the drawers are mounted in oak, the intermediate floors and the back of the chest of drawers are also in oak. Entirely original frame without transformations, period bronzes, missing the locks on the 2 bottom drawers. Very decorative piece of furniture of very good quality, the blackened finish has a very beautiful patina. The whole is in good condition. Dimensions: Height: 85 cm Width: 129 cm Depth: 70 cm
