Back of the blade engraved Mfture Imple du Klingenthal May 1812. Blade punched with the L in a circle of FL Lobstein, revisor in Klingenthal from 06/1804 to 07/1821, the laureate B in a circle of JG Bick controller from 02/1812 to 05/1815, as well as the starred K in an oval of JI Krantz inspector from 03/1812 to 08/1814.
Single-piece guard with 28 grooves. Cross struck with the naval anchor. Reverse of the guard branch marked Versailles, bearing the N punch in cursive of Nicolas Boutet, Director of the Manufacture, and the V of verification.
Blackened and varnished leather scabbard without underlay with two brass fittings stamped H. The top of the chape, above the trigger guard, bears the naval anchor.
The harness is made of bleached buffalo with a single gusset with a buckle with two prongs and a button for coupling to the cartridge pouch. The gusset is pierced for the passage of the trigger guard, the drawbar (missing) of which is threaded into the buckle.
The sabre and harness assembly is in brand new condition, which is quite exceptional. The sabre seems to have left the factory yesterday.
Note: under the empire, the trigger guard of the scabbard is placed in the middle of the chape and is threaded with the drawbar into the slot pierced in the gusset, which represented a fairly difficult manipulation. From 1816 onwards, things were simplified. The trigger guard was raised to the top of the chape. The gusset is no longer pierced, the tie rod passes over the upper edge of the gusset.
