The Roman ateliers in the 19th century produced vases in fine marbles imitating ancient models, much sought after by wealthy American and European travellers. This one in particular takes inspiration from Etruscan models and is made of fine red Levanto marble, from the homonymous town on the Ligurian Riviera of the Cinque Terre, known since Roman times and now practically disappeared.
Good state of preservation, to report an old restoration at the base of the neck, a crack that has been reinforced, there have been no reconstruction interventions but only masking and with the naked eye it is truly impossible to see it. Only by looking deep inside the neck of the vase you can notice the crack.
