Dimensions: 24 x 18 cm Assia Tourgueniev, is an artist of Russian origin who settled in Dornach in 1914 to participate in the construction of the first Goetheanum built by Rudolf Steiner and members of the Anthroposophical Society. She practiced drawing, sculpture, glass engraving, and eurythmy. Great-niece of the Russian writer Ivan Tourgueniev, she was the first wife of the Russian symbolist writer Andrei Biély. She illustrated several works with pen drawings, including Goethe's "Tale of the Green Serpent", children's books by Jacob Streit and books by Biély, in particular his Kotik Letaiev which is dedicated to her.
