Refined Italian painting from the mid-17th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a splendid Saint Jerome, of remarkable pictorial quality. We see him in this particular composition immersed in meditation, while he intensely observes the crucifix and the memento mori skull, typical iconographic symbols of the Holy Doctor of the Church. Noteworthy is the executive quality of the chiaroscuro effects and the care in the creation of the flesh and the minute anatomical details. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation.
