"Miniature Portrait By Augustin Fils. 1803"
Beautiful miniature portrait representing a woman in bust and profile. The portrait is made according to the technique specific to this miniaturist, a painted portrait and then cut out like a silhouette and glued on a black paper background. Very legible signature "Augustin fils invt et f. 1803". This technique is typical of his production. Original gilded brass frame as well as the glass, very slightly curved. Total diameter: 7.5cm. This well-referenced and documented artist is the nephew of the famous miniaturist J. B. Augustin. He was born in 1779 and died in 1819. Very good condition.
