It is indicated Concarneau on the passepartout, but the view is rather that of the old town of La Rochelle with the tower of the big clock. William Lee Hankey is an important British painter, watercolorist and engraver, who studied at the Royal College of Arts in London and Paris. He exhibited his works from the 1890s in the main London galleries (Royal Academy ...). He lived in France in the early 1900s, and painted representations of the Atlantic coasts and the English Channel. He is known for the great sensitivity of his landscapes and scenes of port life. Present in many museums. Our very fine watercolor illustrates the artist's talent.
