Wonderful kilim from Kars in North-Eastern Anatolia. Woven wool on wool in the traditional way. The weave is fine and delicate, the piece is supple and light. The natural and plant shades are both rare in this composition and of perfect harmony. The ochre and reddish tones form sets of great purity accompanied by a very beautiful densely concentrated indigo blue.
