*Repaired but very close series. Roman History from the founding of Rome to the Battle of Actium: That is to say, until the end of the Republic. By Mr. Rollin, former Rector of the University of Paris, Professor of Eloquence at the Collège Royal, & Associate at the Académie Royale des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres. In Paris, at Frères Estienne, then Veuve Estienne, 1738 – 1765, 16 volumes / 16, (complete) in-12 (17.5 x 10.6 cm) of 624, 606, 604, 552, 651, 610, 599, 548, 604, 492, 564, 534, 561, 528, 518 and 492 pages. 8 folding maps and 3 plans. Period binding in sheepskin, ribbed spine richly decorated with gilded boxes and fleurons. Gold titles and volume numbers on a red background. Red edges. Volume I, 1738, 2 maps: “The surroundings of Rome” and “Plan of ancient Rome”. Volume II, 1739, “Map of Italy”. Volume III, 1758. Volume IV, 1765, 2 maps: “Plan of the naval battle of Ecnome”. Volume V, 1744, “Map of Sicily”, “Plan of the city of Syracuse”, “Map of Spain”. Volume VI, 1746, “Map of Greece”. Volume VII, 1747, “Map of Cisalpine Gaul”. Volume VIII, 1748, “Map of Numidia”. Volume IX, 1743, “Map of the Roman province of Gaul”. Volume X, 1744. Volume XI, 1745. Volume XII, 745, "Map of Britania". Volume XIII, 1746. Volume XIV, 1746. Volume XV, 1748. Volume XVI, 1748. Please note: these books are in good general condition. The first four volumes are in a different binding and edition from the other volumes - at Veuve Estienne however. Some corners are dulled, some spines are rubbed, headcaps are more or less damaged with some missing parts - the bindings of the first two volumes are the most damaged (look carefully at the photos). Interiors are clean overall, some stains, foxing and yellowed pages depending on the volume without affecting readability. Some tears in the maps. Please look carefully at the photos. Additional photos on request. Shipping costs for France (by tracked colissimo) are 15 euros, please contact us for all other destinations. We remain at your disposal for any further information.
