"Louis XVI Writing Table"
Mahogany writing table after a model by Riesener delivered to Versailles and whose production had been subcontracted to Adam Weisweiler. The particularity of the model invented by Riesener lies in the fact of relegating the drawers to the sides, leaving the front free to accommodate a pull tab. The upper surface is entirely veneered with mahogany and is surrounded by a bronze gallery, to hold loose papers. The belt of the writing table has a large molding of mahogany rods. It is decorated with gilded bronze rosettes. The edges of the base are slightly rounded. Apocryphal stamp of Adame Weisweiler Provenance: labels from the Tinardon collection, industrialist specializing in sugar refinery with the Say factory
