Baccarat Chandelier, Gilt Bronze Frame
.A significant late 19th-century French chandelier, attributed to the Baccarat manufactory, featuring an impressive chased and gilt-bronze frame and rich blown and cut-crystal ornamentation.
The composition is centered around a remarkable central stem made of large cut-crystal sections, surrounded by eight light arms and complemented by lights integrated into the structure.
The design is particularly notable for its large vertical cut-crystal elements—shaped like daggers or obelisks—some of which are topped with a small applied gilt-bronze flame finial.
The quality of construction is also evident in the fully demountable bronze frame, with several components bearing assembly numbers stamped directly into the metal.
The chandelier was completely disassembled in our workshop for cleaning and inspection, allowing for a precise examination of the quality of its assembly, bronze work, and crystal components.
The frame retains its fine original mercury gilding.
With its high-quality construction, substantial cut-crystal elements, central stem, and assembly system, this piece is characteristic of major lighting creations by Baccarat from the late 19th century.
