There is a very sensual feel to this painting by Alexandre Bonnardel. He poetically depicts a rose branch laden with flowers, and you can feel the wind stirring nature around the central subject.

Our painting is signed in the lower right-hand corner by Alexandre Bonnardel, a painter from Lyon who was active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Sizes unframed: H 26.77 Inches. - W 23.62 Inches.
Sizes framed: H 33.46 Inches. - W 30.31 Inches.

In good condition, with a small loss of wood at the bottom of the painting - Wooden frame with gilded patina.

Biography:

Alexandre François Bonnardel was a French painter born in Pajay in the Isère region on 6 September 1867 and died in Lyon on 21 December 1942.

Alexandre François Bonnardel was admitted to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon on 23 February 1891 in the class of Antoine Christian Zacharie (1819-1899). He became a student of Jean-Baptiste Poncet and exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, where he won his first medal in 1899.

In 1900, he was appointed professor of the live model class at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Lyon.
