Large oil on canvas measuring 76cm x 120cm plus modern frame 96cm x 140cm signed lower right and dated A.MAGLIONE 1865 The painting represents the Sablettes and part of the Chateau and the Mar-Vivo point near Toulon André MAGLIONE was born in Marseille in 1838 and died in the same city in 1923 A student of Loubon, he exhibited at the Parisian Salon of 1866 and 1868. He was the founder of the Cercle Artistique de Marseille in 1867, and regularly appeared at the exhibitions of the Association of Marseille Artists. He was close to Loubon, Suchet, Ziem and Monticelli, on whom he wrote "Monticelli intime", in 1903. His works are in the Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille and the Museum of Cassis. This painting has been cleaned and has undergone minor restorations (see the back of the reinforcement pieces). It is now in perfect condition.
