"Zoomorphic Pitcher In Delisi And Doistau Stoneware, Duborjal In Pantin"
This remarkable enameled stoneware pitcher, in the shape of a stylized dog, was made by the Duborjal pottery in Pantin in 1905. Commissioned by the Delisi & Doistau distillery, also based in Pantin, this object was likely used to promote the production of absinthe and eau-de-vie, emblematic activities of the distillery since 1851. The piece features a blue enamel decoration on a textured beige background, typical of stoneware production of the time. The words “Absinthe Delisi & Doistau” are carefully inscribed on the body of the pitcher, testifying to its advertising function. The zoomorphic design, in the shape of a dog, combines functionality and humorous aesthetics, in perfect harmony with the artistic trends of the early 20th century.
