In mahogany, comprising a pair of armchairs à la reine and a sofa, resting on baluster legs at the front and sabre legs at the back, upholstered in yellow embossed velvet with floral decoration, both armchairs stamped IACOB on the rear crosspiece, the sofa stamped IACOB twice, both armchairs numbered in black stencil “B 100”, label inscribed “Château de Bizy / Côté de la Cour / App. Du Prince Fer” on one of the two, illegible label on the other; minor accidents, restorations on two of the rear legs of the sofa Marks (for one of the two armchairs and for the sofa): “LP” interlaced (for Louis-Philippe) under closed royal crown Provenance: Louis-Philippe at the Château de Bizy. As evidenced by the marks present under their belt, our seats come from the Château de Bizy at the time of Louis-Philippe. Owner of Bizy at the death of the Count of Eu in 1775, the Duke of Penthièvre made frequent stays there from 1783, when he was forced to give up his Château de Rambouillet to Louis XVI, then he made it his main residence in 1792, where he settled with his daughter the Duchess of Orléans.
