Object description :

"Kashan Carpet, 133 X 204 Cm, Wool & Silk Hand-knotted In Iran, First Part Of The 20th Century"
Superb Kashan from the first half of the 20th century, 1900-1920 hand-knotted in fine and dense kork wool and silk.
This carpet measures 133 cm wide by 204 cm long, is in very good condition while having a slight wear of use.
These pieces having a little antiquity are finer than modern pieces and the decorations often a thousand times more abundant, richer, more extraordinary in the patterns by approaching the decorations of the 16th century.
The central motif offers a niche heavily decorated with flowers, trees of life.
# A vase in the center of the carpet is fully inscribed, ancient attribute of the Sumerian goddess of water in the third millennium.
A vase from which water springs, the motif has remained until today, in oriental art, but it has lost its original meaning.
A group of Persian carpets of the most extraordinary old is that of the carpets called "with vase".
The vase is a pretext for an overflow, a floral burst, in scrolled arabesques.
The vase associated with the tree of life, is found on Persians of the type, Tabriz, Kachan, Macchad, but also on Turkish interpretations, in Ottoman carpets and the marvelous silks of Kashmir.
Over the centuries, the decoration has moved away from the original decoration.
The border, richly flowered, testifies, like the whole of this piece, to the mastery of the craftsman who knotted it. Blue and old pink interlacing, branches accompanied by pendants on a midnight blue background make up this piece decorated with this extraordinary border.
The entire field is covered with numerous flowers and palms, with a clever and complex design, roses, lotus flowers, pistachios.
The wide border of light wine lees is composed of varied motifs, also flowery, decorated with large complex palmettes and medallions.
The overall condition is very good, there is no pile reduction, the selvedges are good, the patina wonderful.
The delicate colors blend wonderfully together.
The pile is tight, the fringes short, complete and clean, the selvedges in very good condition, the whole in very good condition. ## in the end, a quality piece in beautiful, solid and durable materials, with a learned and complex design.
## Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in the center of Iran. At the time of the Persian Renaissance, in the 16th and 17th centuries, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendor.
Finely woven carpets, of great richness of composition, were knotted by the royal factory of Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces visible throughout the world, in museums and private collections.
Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century, around 1870.
The revival of carpet production began with carpets that are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance.
These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after one of the most famous master weavers of the end of the 19th century.
The decorations are varied and offer a meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, subjects with figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant decor, trees of life, vision of the earthly paradise.
Thanks to the superior quality of the wool (Kork wool, wool from the Iranian highlands, but also imported wool), their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and thanks to their designs of great delicacy and finesse, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian carpets.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
