"Console - Late Louis XVI Mahogany Library Table"
Mahogany veneer console table which, when unfolded, serves as a library table. Stamped by Ferdinand Bury, who became a master in 1774 and died in 1795. Jurande mark of master cabinetmakers. Unlike the games table whose top is covered with felt, the top of the library table is entirely veneered with precious wood, in this case mahogany in an ebony frame. The top pivots and opens in the direction of the length of the table. The pivot system also allows you to discover a storage compartment, hidden at the level of the table belt. Characteristic of the Louis XVI period, this games table is the mark of the neoclassical style, with ornaments inspired by ancient architecture, such as bronze drops and triglyphs made from stamped brass plates.
