Rare Meissen porcelain group, Muse Terpsichore from the series Apollo and the 9 Muses. Johann Joachim Kaendler designed this series as part of the grand order of Empress Catherine II of Russia. Terpsichore plays music and next to her two cupids dance. The terrace is worked with laurel leaves and gilded. Model created between 1772-1775. Marked with blue crossed swords and numbered 70718. Terpsichore is the muse of dance in Greek mythology.
