"Pair Of Empire Period Silver Salt Cellars"
Pair of double salt cellars from the Empire period - Return from Egypt in solid silver decorated with busts of winged sphinxes and leonine claw base, spacer with Greek post friezes and salt cellar grip in the shape of a lyre of Apollo with sun motif. Goldsmith's mark AM in a diamond for Ambroise Mignerot (worked in Paris between 1800 and 1818 at 62 rue du temple). The Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam (NL) holds a pair of individual salt cellars by the same master goldsmith inv. MBZ 138 ab (KN&V), to the same model.
