"Fernand Dauchot Known As Daucho 1898-1982. Village Of Bleury 1943. School Of Pont-aven, Gauguin Moret"
New very beautiful oil/cardboard by Fernand Dauchot known as Daucho 1898-1982 representing a lively village street in Bleury in 1943, signed and dated lower right + located on the back. Size of the painting alone 32.5x43cm and 34.5x45cm including frame. This is therefore a new post-impressionist work with a synthetic tendency by Fernand Daucho who paints here a lively view of the village of Bleury in Eure et Loir in 1943, when the painter lived for a time not far from there. Rather early work where the artist is still under the influence of the Pont-Aven school, in fact, we immediately notice the lessons of Gauguin and Maurice Denis that Daucho has retained well, he synthesizes his motif as much as possible and uses colors typical of the school with mauves, pinks, soft greens, sky blue etc ... Strong and emblematic work of the painter, we also find in the work on the artist that I highly recommend "Fernand Daucho, 1898-1982" by Jean-marc Michaud and René Le bihan, 2 extremely close works reproduced on page 12 (see last photo) Fernand Albéric Dauchot, known as Daucho (born December 3, 1898 in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, died June 10, 1982 in Riantec) is a French expressionist painter. Fernand Dauchot studied at the School of Applied Arts in Paris, then at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. He went to the front in 1917 and returned wounded. The painter mainly painted Brittany: he arrived in Pont-Aven in 1923 and hung out with other artists at the Hôtel de la Poste. He married a young Breton woman in 1925. He first lived in Paris but spent a lot of time in Brittany every summer. He also lived for ten years in Riec-sur-Bélon, from 1933. His favorite subjects were the banks of the Aven. After the war, he set up a house and studio in Pont-Aven. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1927 to 1929 and in 1948, exhibited at the Galerie Cardo. The painter's works remained unknown to the general public for many years, but since 2010, Fernand Dauchot's paintings have illustrated the envelopes of the post offices of Concarneau, Névez and Pont-Aven and this should help to make this painter known. Around 1950 he removed the T of Dauchot from his signature in order to avoid confusion with his namesake Gabriel Dauchot.
