"Ma Lebrun - Seahorse Coffee Pot In Solid Silver, Restoration Period"
Rare solid silver coffee pot, ovoid in shape, period very first quarter of the 19th century. (Restoration period). It rests on a circular foot with a festoon of water leaves, an ornament that can be found as a reminder on the shoulder of the body and in a pronounced frieze on the neckline. The applique attachments of the handle in norci wood and console, represent on the upper part, an imposing ram's head richly chiseled with tiny details; its base flanked by a spectacular mascaron with a woman's head is decorated with pearls and a beautifully flowered garland. A seahorse with a very stylized design, forms the spout, the body in a coil, the tail also in applique, spread on the throat of the pot. As for the lid, bordered around the edge with a fine border of water leaves, it is topped with its pine cone fretel on its discreet terrace with radiant leafy decoration. Hallmarks with the 1st Title (950/1000) called "au vieillard" for the head of Michelangelo and guarantee for PARIS 1819-1838 on the feet, body and edge of the lid. Hallmarks of the Master Goldsmith, Marc-Augustin Lebrun (Initials MAL, an eagle for symbol), received on January 31, 1821.
