Rare and precious copy published during the youth of Louis XIV in red morocco, spine with raised bands, boxes decorated with fine gilded iron, gilded title, triple fillets on the covers, edges gilded with bright gold, finely marbled endpapers, Bookplate of F& G. Gastambide and having belonged to the Count of Poméreu d'Aligre, handwritten bookplate inventory No. 156. In 16 format, this book printed in Leide, at the Elzeviers in 1648 (a guarantee of quality for both the text and the typography, plus in a fresh binding of the time (Cape goat). A beautiful engraved title: "The Memoirs of Messire Philippe de Commines. Lord of Argenton"
