"Medallion - King Of Rome In Biscuit Porcelain From Sevres Or Paris - Empire Period"
AMAZING and RARE small medallion representing the KING OF ROME, son of NAPOLEON I - EMPEROR OF THE FRENCH, in left profile bust. Background imitating malachite, decorated with the bust in grisaille. The medallion is surrounded by a fine bronze frame. This medallion is very interesting for the originality of its decoration, but especially for its background imitating a very rare color on porcelain, malachite, however used since antiquity, but extremely difficult to achieve on porcelain. Another rare and interesting element, the representation of the KING of ROME, which is also very rarely found on porcelain or biscuit. Most of these medallions were made by the Manufacture de SÈVRES, generally in white and/or blue biscuit, the same for the Parisian production.
