Bronze group With brown patina depicting a Cossack on his horse kissing his fiancée before his departure. Signed on the terrace in Russian LBP. GRACHEV and founder's mark FABR.CFWOERFFEL ST.PETERSBOURG. Dimensions: 24 high x 22 cm long x 15 cm wide Grachev, Vasily Vasily Yakovlevich Grachev (1831-1905) Saint Petersburg, Russia. The artist was the main competitor of E. Lanceray. He stopped modeling after the death of E. Lanceray in 1886. Both together made a very great contribution to Russian sculptural art by competing and inspiring each other during the period from 1873 to 1886. Used to cast all his works at the Woerffel foundry, but there are five other known models marked NIKOLAEV.. His works were never cast in France or any other country in Europe, only one of his late and important works was sold to the United States with all rights for further casting.
