"Child's Dress In Taffeta And Reused Maubois Droguet - France 19th Century"
19th century France A moving child's dress, for a little boy (?) around 10 years old (?) in re-use of older silks dating from the 19th century. The background is a taffeta with a small yellow-green border, such as many dresses from the Directory or the First Empire were made of. The applied collar and the pleated frills at the bottom of the skirt are in Droguet Maubois from the Louis XV period. Straight cut with a fitted back and volume at the back, naturally reminiscent of a fashion silhouette from around 1880. Collar and cuffs scalloped with lace with a reminder at the bottom of the skirt in pleated tarlatan and bobbin lace. Fully lined with cream taffeta and chintzed cotton also prior to its cut. A precious and rare testimony to 19th century children's fashion. Note a stain on one sleeve, otherwise clean silk and not spindled. Very good condition. Dimensions: Equivalent to a child's size from 8-10 years old. Height 79 cm, shoulders 28 cm, chest 63 cm, waist 66 cm, hips 80 cm, sleeves 42 cm.
