Monachesi was an Italian painter and sculptor who founded the ‘Futurist Movement in Le Marche’ in 1932. This was the beginning of an intense period of artistic production. After the Futurist experience, he projected his research into figurative elaboration through broad colour planes and contour lines that characterised his painting in the 1940s and 1950s.
The painting in question shows a view of a cityscape created with large monochrome colour fields, spread with a spatula, and black lines delimiting the contours of the buildings.
There is the artist's signature at the bottom centre of the painting: ‘MONACHESI’. It is in a good state of conservation and has a contemporary frame measuring 65x76 cm.
