"Assumption Of The Virgin, Oil On Canvas, Late 18th Century."
Oil on canvas depicting the religious theme of the 'Assumption of the Virgin'. The figurative composition is centered on the figure of the Virgin and is influenced by the Genoese painting of the circle of D. Piola (17th century). The play of colors has a precise role, that of pushing the Virgin towards the light above. Dark colors frame the group in the center which is instead characterized by the warm shades of brown, while the bright, almost celestial blue of the dress marks the distance of the Virgin from the rest of the heavens. Contemporary frame gilded with gold leaf. Northern Italy, late 18th century.
