A superb late Victorian boxed set featuring two matching sterling silver salts with their original spoons, finely crafted in a Neoclassical style. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1900, by Henry Williamson, these elegant tablewares are preserved in their original fitted presentation case.
Each oval navette-shaped salt features a refined reeded design, large loop side-handles, and a luxurious gold-washed interior to protect against salt corrosion. The coordinating spoons are designed with fluted shell-shaped bowls and decorative ball finials. The craftsmanship, intricate detailing, and harmonious proportions make this a quintessential example of English silverwork from the turn of the century.
The salts and spoons are housed in their original domed, dark brown leather case, embossed with a gold border and lined with emerald green velvet and silk, providing both an attractive display and protection.
This luxurious set is ideal for collectors of antique English silver, Neoclassical tableware, late Victorian decorative arts, or fine dining accessories. Perfect for serving gourmet salts, condiments, caviar, or simply displayed as objets de vertu.
Historical Background
During the late 19th century, silver salts were not only functional table items but also important indicators of status and taste. The revival of Neoclassical forms around 1900 led to elegant, restrained designs such as this, combining functionality with artistic refinement. Sets that survive with matching spoons and their original presentation boxes are increasingly rare and highly prized today.

Condition
Very good antique condition overall. Crisp reeded design, strong gilding to interiors, and matching spoons. Minor marks to the interiors appropriate to age and use, a very shallow depression to the side of one salt, and slight unevenness to the spoon handles. The fitted leather case remains structurally sound with some expected light wear. These minor signs of age do not detract from the beauty or collectability of the set.
