"Superb Pair Of Cloisonné Enamel Plates, Silver, Japan, Meiji Period (1868-1912)"
Superb pair of Japanese dishes with cut sides in finely cloisonné enamels, both decorated with a rich decoration of lush vegetation on a turquoise blue background. Concave in shape on a small heel, they are decorated on the edge with a geometric frieze. Birds in full flight above flowering trees, dahlias, peonies, morning glories, irises on stems… make up this magnificent decoration. Silver and gilded brass cloisonné decoration on a superb turquoise background! This is indeed a "real pair" with different decorations facing each other and not twice the same decoration.
