"Jean-baptiste Roubaud (1871-1936) Seaside On The Var Coast - Cap Sicié"
A poetic atmosphere, soft and relaxing colors, the tranquility and calm atmosphere that reigned on the Var coast at the beginning of the 20th century. The work, done in oil on canvas, is offered in a Louis XIV style frame with Trianon patina that measures 68 cm by 76 cm and 46 cm by 55 cm for the canvas alone. It represents a fisherman's house in a peaceful sunrise atmosphere, by the sea, on the Toulon coast, in the distance the famous Cap Sicié. In good condition, only a few fine cracks from use and on the back, old restorations totally invisible on the painting side. The work is signed and dated 1905 at the bottom left.
Painter of the Ministry of the Navy, he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1936.
He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1927 "in the Port of Marseille",
in 1928 "Stormy Days in Provence",
in 1931, "Reflections" and "Ruins at Châteauneuf-lès-Martigues" and 1932 "The Old, Balcony", "Châteauneuf-lès-Martigues" which earned him a silver medal.
He also attended exhibitions in Bordeaux, Calais, Dijon, Lyon, Marseille, Oran, Geneva and Buenos Aires.
Finally, he decorated the Palais du Rhin in Strasbourg.
