Benjamin ZIX (Strabourg 1772 - Perugia 1811) Battle scene Pen and brown ink and brown wash, on brown paper. 20.7 x 27.3 cm Some stains and losses on the edges. On the back, a mythological drawing in pen and brown ink, preparatory for Ovid's Metamorphoses which would allow us to date our drawing between 1800-1808. The Cabinet des Estampes et des Dessins des Musées de Strasbourg has a drawing by Benjamin Zix using the same technique as ours which represents a convoy of Spanish prisoners with on the back a preparatory drawing for Ovid's Metamorphoses.
