Astonishing miniature portrait with Caravaggesque effects.
This is an oil on copper plate representing a young man in a red cap painted in chiaroscuro.

The lighting effects, the technique and the expression are astonishingly modern for this period, he is certainly a very good painter, but to be identified.

Period: 17th century.

Condition: in its own juice, if this miniature is seen from afar, its condition appears correct but it is not perfect when viewed up close.
There are some missing parts mainly on the edges and on the candle, the central part of the subject is relatively little affected, so it will be necessary to plan for a possible restoration. (see numerous photos taken up close).
