This beautiful landscape, delicately painted and teeming with details was painted in 1838 by Eugène Napoléon Deterre, a Belgian painter who lived from 1810 to 1842. A specialist in landscapes, he delivers here a lively painting of the surroundings of Bruges, with a perspective overlooking the "Venice of the North". True to his style, the painting presents great realism and very beautiful colors. The painting has just been cleaned by our restorer, revealing all the colors and details, the painting is highlighted in a very beautiful 19th century frame in wood and gilded stucco.
