Mansfield Joseph Mansfield, a renowned clockmaker of Shaftesbury, Dorset, was born in 1814. Probably the son of Thomas Mansfield, who had established his business in Salisbury Street around 1780, Joseph Mansfield continued the family tradition, first recorded in High Street in 1842 and then in Salisbury Street in 1867. After his tenure the business was taken over by his son Thomas J Mansfield, thus preserving the Mansfield legacy.
