Louis Cabié, renowned artist in France and particularly in the Bordeaux region, even during his lifetime, traveled in the great southwest throughout his life. A student of Harpignies whose passion for vegetation is found in the manner of the Barbizon school, he transcribed until his death the simplicity of picturesque French landscapes. Spectacular trees, forest atmospheres, places steeped in history, captivating valleys, or even a landscape in its simplest form that will bring out a vital contrast.

Andernos is a place that Cabié knows particularly well. He married there in 1878, and set up his easel there for many years even after his divorce in 1890. Here, in 1889, he came to create an earthly view, a rare moment when water does not appear, and illustrates a corner of a farm overlooking a path. Most of the works from these subjects and this period are not dated by Cabié, nor officially located. You need to know the man's life and his painting to understand his organization and the places where his brush stopped.
