Katsinam (sing. Kachina) carved objects, from the traditions of the Hopi peoples of Arizona, are particularly decorative works that come to life during the traditional dances of the annual festivals dedicated to praying for rain. Kachinam dolls, used by the Pueblo Native American groups (Hopi, Zuni, Tewa, Acoma Pueblo and Laguna Pueblo), serve as educational tools and are offered to children at the end of ritual ceremonies. These figurines, which represent a wide variety of spirits, embody the katchina dancers, and their colors are symbolically linked to the cardinal points. Multi-colored matte patina, with some minor abrasions.
