"Carrara Marbre Statue Aphrodite"
Carrara marble statue depicting Aphrodite (or Venus for the Romans) tying a sandal leaning against a trunk to which a dolphin is clinging. This sculpture, due to the characteristics of the manufacturing and the softness of the modelling, is probably located in the area between Liguria and Tuscany and dated between the end of the 17th century and the first decades of the following century. The name that comes naturally to mind is that of Giacomo Antonio Ponsonelli, born in Massa in 1654. Small absence of the little finger of his right hand.
