"Woman Reading In An Interior By Otto Herschel (austrian, Born 1871)"
The genre painting of a woman reading was created by Otto Herschel (born 1871), an Austrian genre and landscape painter of Jewish origin. He was a pupil of Franz von Matsch at the Vienna School of Art and later studied at the Munich Academy in the studio of C. Marr. In Vienna, he painted cityscapes of the old town and Biedermeier interiors. The artist loved to paint Venice and his "Ghetto di Venezia", "Der letzte Hafner", "Musizierender Paar" and others were acclaimed by the public. When the Nazis came to power in Germany and then Austria, Otto Herschel, who was of Jewish origin, had to emigrate to the United States.
