Round barrel, rifled bore, marked on top: Address Sam'l Colt, New York América. Marked C on the right side and S on the left side. Half-moon front sight.
Barrel with six-chamber reinforcement, engraved with the naval battle and marked COLT PATENTN°04197 and the date of the naval battle and the punch C.
Single action.
Open frame marked Colt Patent; brass trigger guard.
Wooden stock with military markings.
All parts with the gun number: 104197 for a year of manufacture 1863.
The finish of this Colt allows the stock to be removed.
Good condition and good mechanical performance. Clean barrel and deep rifling.
The naval battle evokes the combat delivered by the commandore MOORE of Marine of Texas, against a Mexican fleet very superior in number.
Made: 200,500ex from 1860 to 1873, of which over 40% were sold to the government because of the American Civil War.
