Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest and most renowned watch manufacturers in the world, the oldest to have produced without interruption since its founding. The Maison was founded on September 17, 1755 in the Geneva district of Saint-Gervais by Jean-Baptiste-Marc Vacheron (1731-1805). Initially, the watchmaking workshop consisted of Jean-Marc and an apprentice. In 1785, the founder's sons, Louis André and Abraham Vacheron, took over the company. The watchmaking dynasty of his son Louis André ended in the early 1930s and the management of the company was taken over by Abraham, the sole heir. During the years of his administration, the House passed to his son Jacques Barthélémi (grandson of the founder) in 1810. With Jacques Barthélémi, he began the production of more complicated pieces. In 1819, a skilled textile merchant by the name of François Constantin, who had already worked in the watchmaking industry, joined the company. Constantin was the originator of the manufactory's motto "do better if possible, and this is still the case"...
