"Oil On Canvas Gaston Balande: Garden In Senneville (normandy) - Circa 1925"
For lovers of Normandy and the Seine loops! Fabulous oil on canvas by Gaston BALANDE (1880-1971) representing the garden of his studio in SENNEVILLE, in the Seine loops in Normandy, not far from Giverny. Painting made between 1925 and 1930. Post-impressionist composition painted with a knife with a lot of material. The spring colors are bright, vibrant! Painting passed through our workshops. Note an old relining (probably contemporary with the artist), and a micro restoration on the back. Original frame. Very highly rated painter! A "nature" painting straight out of the Giverny region, never shown in the room, not to be missed! "Balande has been a regular visitor to the Mantes area since he acquired a studio in a farm in Senneville, a village in the Eure department, in 1925. As in Lauzières, he patiently created a flower garden there, which he would depict in many ways. The flowers he picked were gathered in bouquets in vases, which he would use as the central motif in several still lifes. Nature, crossed in Senneville by the meanders of the Seine, was the source of a long sequence of landscapes among the most personal and accomplished of his career. These landscapes of the Île-de-France region would retain, until the Second World War, the rich and vibrant style that characterized the artist's mature works."
