"Mons 1780, Giant Louis XVI Coffee Pot, Solid Silver, Master Marked With A Pear"
Very impressive tripod coffee pot from the period and in the flamboyant Louis XVI style, richly decorated. Very large (36 cm!) it is sumptuously decorated with everything that the neoclassical register contains in decorations. Laurel garlands, fluting, pine cone, mascaron, acanthus leaves, everything is there. The master goldsmith decorated it right up to the point of the bottom where he left a very small empty cartridge to strike the four Hallmarks of the city of Mons for the 1780 vintage. It weighs a very generous 1245 grams
