"Ceramic Coffee Table By Julien De Covemaeker Known As “juliette Belarti” Year 60/70"
Vintage rectangular coffee table, 60s/70s in ceramic, modernist decor in tawny and white tones, resting on a chrome metal base, faux wood inclusions. Attributed to "J. Belarti", unsigned, but easily identifiable, very good condition. We are faced with an enigma, isn't that how legends are born.... Romain Gary was also Emile Ajar, why wouldn't Julien de Covemaeker have taken the pseudonym of J. Belarti? Some say Julien, but more often Juliette Belarti, the signatures vary, sometimes there are none at all....but in the civil registry this pseudonym has no existence. Julien de Covemaeker (1927-2008) was indeed this ceramist from Ostend in Belgium who is very well known for his ceramic and chrome coffee tables and bars in the 60s/70s.
