Important Périgourdin wedding chest from the very beginning of the 18th century in solid walnut. It rests on two straight rear legs and the two front legs are composed of two flattened pancakes. A large plinth with a domed molding, typical of this region, surrounds the bottom of our chest. A molded rod inlaid in a groove, in the upper part, also surrounds this piece of furniture. A thick molded tray along its entire edge opens by means of two beautiful hand-forged iron hinges. Inside, there is a transverse compartment with a lid in the upper part on the left. This pretty piece of furniture, typical of our countryside, has reached us in remarkable condition considering its age and its use over time and lifestyles. However, some usual repairs are to be noted: The two rear feet have been anted, the two front pancakes have been redone, traces of wear on the surface of the plinth, this one having remained perfectly healthy in its thickness. The back is mainly formed of a large and remarkable oak board where we can see all the traces of tools used at that time, in particular the adze.
