Biography: The Cristalleries du Val Saint Lambert, founded in 1826 in Seraing, Belgium, have their origins in a collaboration with the Cristalleries de Vonêche, another major centre of European glassmaking. Following the closure of Vonêche, its know-how and craftsmen were transferred to Val Saint Lambert, bringing with them valuable expertise that helped build the new Cristalleries' worldwide reputation. Located on the site of a former Cistercian abbey, the Cristalleries du Val Saint Lambert quickly established themselves as a symbol of quality and innovation in the art of crystal. They perfected artisanal techniques such as double crystal, which allows several layers of colored crystal to be superimposed, paving the way for complex and elegant engraved patterns. The 19th century marked the golden age of the manufacture, which became one of the leading crystal factories in Europe. Thanks to their international exports and their participation in numerous universal exhibitions, the Cristalleries du Val Saint Lambert established themselves as a reference in the field, receiving multiple distinctions for the purity and finesse of their works.
