Passionate about drawing and painting since his childhood, he came to France, around his twentieth year, and settled in Paris, an artistic center for all young talents. He was a student of Tony Robert-Fleury and Bouguereau, recognized masters and school leaders for a large number of "official" painters of the 19th century. At the Académie Julian, he became friends with Numa Gillet and Michel Korochansky, who took him to Montigny. There everything enchanted him, the forest, the banks of the Loing, the meadows, the farm animals, the canal, and he left Paris for Sorques. He settled in the Café Coffin which took in boarders, tourists or passing artists. Ede, for his part, stayed for seven years, finding himself at ease in this warm environment of artists with such varied conceptions, a true melting pot of modern art.
