"Portrait Of A Young Aristocrat. Late 17th Century "
School of the South of France. 17th century period around 1690 / 1700 In its period frame with a motif called "with flowered corners" in carved oak (97 x 84 cm) According to our research, this very attractive portrait of a young aristocrat would be the work of an artist from the south of France, probably from the County of Nice with an Italian influence (Piedmont?) This young man is dressed in a loose "dressing gown" in blue and yellow velvet. He is coiffed in the French fashion, his long royal hairstyle called "leonine" will be very fashionable under Louis XIV, from 1680 and until the 1715s. He wears around his neck a delicate jabot of fine lace. The singularity of this portrait is due to the beauty and youth of the character (very unusual in portraits of this period) Good general condition, note a seam (original) in the canvas at the bottom right.
