Impressive Papal Coat of Arms in richly carved and gilded wood and forged iron, Italy, Bologna, second half of the 18th century.
This magnificent coat of arms comes from a palace in Bologna belonging to a noble family that included a pope among its members. The large winged cherub head wears a papal mitre on its head, surrounded by the keys symbol of the Vatican. The keys are wrapped in forged iron friezes. Very good state of preservation, original gold leaf gilding, small losses.
