"Francois Louis French. Oil On Panel "
François Louis Français, French painter born in 1814 and died in 1897. Attached to the Barbizon school, he is one of the most famous landscape painters of his lifetime. He studied painting under the direction of Jean Gigoux and Camille Corot. He began at the 1837 salon. A museum is dedicated to him in his hometown of Plombières in the Vosges. This oil on panel represents a boat on the shore, in the foreground, setting sun. Painting in very good condition in its very beautiful original frame. Dimensions of the panel 32.5cm X 28.5cm. Dimensions with the frame: 53cm X 48cm.
