Beautiful pewter EWER called "in Mars helmet", with S-shaped throat with nicely formed spout, moving and molded pedestal topped with a knot; it is fitted with a handle with draped crosier and long gadroons. The base is decorated with a frieze of raised tabs.
Control mark: FF crowned / 1709 / TOL (for Tolosa, the old name of the city).
Height: 28.3 cm.

Very beautiful and rare model of type III presenting a variant of handle of type II (§ René Richard: "Pewter potters of the old Languedoc and Roussillon
In TOULOUSE, the royal edict of 1691 establishing the control hallmark was not respected and we only know those of 1691, 1695, 1699, 1700 and 1709, whereas it had to be updated with each new vintage. This city is not the only one in the kingdom in this case. The presence on an object of this hallmark of 1709 therefore does not allow us to precisely date those who bear it.
